James has written two international best-selling books, also entitled "Grow Your Own Drugs", as a tie-in with his TV series, having also contributed articles to the Metro & the BBC Gardening Website.
James has lectured at the University of Kent Ethnobotany Master's programme, as well as conducting talks at The Eden Project, The Bristol Festival of Nature & BBC Gardener's World Live.
James Wong is an ethnobotanist, television presenter & best-selling author based in London, UK. Trained to Masters level at the University of Kent and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, his work has taken him to Ecuador, South China and Indonesia.
Brought up in Singapore & Malaysia to an English mother and Malaysian father, his research interests include traditional medical systems, underutilised crops species & wild plant conservation.
In 2009 he fronted the award-winning BBC TV series "Grow Your Own Drugs", introducing a fresh, modern take on preparing a broad range of plant-based remedies, reflecting his life-long passion for all things botanical.
He has since gone on to become a regular face on the hit BBC rural affairs series "Countryfile", as well as presenting further series of Grow Your Own Drugs, Grow Your Own Drugs at Christmas & James Wong and the Malaysian Garden, which followed his efforts to co-design a gold-medal-winning garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Numerous television appearances include the BBC Chelsea Flower Show, Hampton Court Flower Show, BBC Breakfast, BBC News, Channel 4's Richard and Judy & ITV's The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
In 2008 James Wong co-founded his own garden design studio, Amphibian Designs which has since 3 consecutive RHS medals, including a covetted Gold Medal the the Chelsea Flower Show 2010.
