Colour therapy

Trials at the US Department for Agriculture have shown that planting a number of fruiting crops through red plastic mulch can boost both yield & flavour. This is believed to work by reflecting a spectrum of light invisible to the human eye, known as 'Far Red' light, which stimulates fruiting in crops including tomatoes, strawberries, chilies, melons and squash.

Hormone therapy

The scent of jasmine flowers is provided by the natural plant defence hormone, Methyl salicylate. Research from around the world has shown that spraying this on the leaves of various fruit crops during ripening can not only improve the size but also the flavour and antioxidant content of the harvest. Jasmine floral water is a safe & 100% natural source of this hormone, that even comes premixed in jasmine floral water.

Mineral therapy

Seaweed is a rich source of natural minerals essential for plant growth that are often lacking in garden soils. It also contains a range of natural plant hormones and growth regulators, which research is beginning to reveal can dramatically boost the performance of a range of common garden crops.

A dilute solution of liquid seaweed sprayed onto the leaves of  spinach, for example, could be enough to trigger a doubling in its antioxidant content in a matter of days. Its high potassium and low nitrogen content also make it to perfect food to supercharge the flavour of crops like strawberries & tomatoes.

Sugar therapy

Molasses is a by-product of sugar manufacture, which is rich in a range of minerals vital for healthy plant growth, along with a hefty dose of the sweet stuff.

Trials have shown that watering plants with a dilute sugar solution can significantly boost their growth and establishment, while simultaneously boosting  populations of beneficial soil microbes.
